About Vancouver Fashion Week

Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) was founded in 2001 by producer and entrepreneur, Jamal Abdourahman, who envisioned bringing a prominent fashion event to Canada’s renowned coastal city. VFW’s vision is the celebration of pioneering international and local designers as diversity and multiculturalism are its core values. This semi-annual even has been host to a range of collections from street-wear to eco-friendly garments. Due to its continual growth, VFW has gained the attention of Le Monde, The Guardian, Elle Canada, Flare and Sina and Hollywood stars such as Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, as well as Canadian music giants Sam Roberts and Alanis Morrisette. In April 2011, VFW was proclaimed Vancouver’s official fashion week by Mayor Gregor Robertson.
