TITSER will be the first television project of character actress Lovi Poe upon signing a new, three year exclusive contract with GMA.  She plays the lead Michelle in the series – a high school valedictorian from a poor barrio school who dreams of becoming a teacher, but whose only option after graduation is to work as a housemaid. Her best friend Rosa is the class salutatorian who ends up a single mother.  Fate, tragedy and the sheer dedication of Michelle and Rosa to finish their schooling lead to unexpected twists in this compelling series. 

TITSER tells the stories of these girls as it tackles problems in education: lack of books and chairs and classrooms, corruption in the procurement process, the high dropout rate and the fact that majority of the Philippine population has only reached a high school level – or less – of education.

TITSER is written by Bayan Ko creator Nessa Valdellon and directed by Dr. Alvin Yapan, who also heads the Filipino Department at the Ateneo de Manila University. The series was inspired by Sandra Aguinaldo’s I-Witness documentary Iskul Ko No. 1 – about an award-winning elementary schoolteacher who put herself through college by working as a househelper. 

GMA News TV is producing this series in the hope that viewers start to take a more serious look at our education problems and perhaps begin sending more impoverished children all the way through college. 

The ten part original drama series TITSER will air Sunday nights at 7:15 PM from August 4 to October 6, only on GMA News TV.

I’m hitting the road alone again. With a smooth flight two months ago and the remarkable travel experiences in a peaceful city of Dipolog, there’s no reason your love for travel won’t be rekindled after reading this travelogue.

I fell in love with DipologCity the second time around. There’s something in this place that’s highly noteworthy that only a frequent tourist could decipher. Once I step on its airport pavement, it feels like I’m home again.

The locals knew the beauty of their place and the ways it could benefit them. The last time I was here, a handsome son of a real estate honcho informed me during an event for bloggers that they’ve donated heaps of land to make the construction of The Boulevard possible. The Boulevard is the long-stretch thoroughfare along the seashore which is exquisitely built to provide a place for all people in the city. It‘s one of the main attractions of the city that has drawn locals and travellers in a similar way. You’re free to sit down in one of the benches and watch the sunset show off the wonder of nature. If you’re hungry, you can choose from hundreds of dining places found in the area.

One morning, I stayed in The Boulevard eating tropical fruits while staring at the sun making its way out in the sky to greet us. The splendid view of the sea, the friendly people around me and the fresh tropical fruits seemed to inspire me to know more about the place.

When in Dipolog, the best place to stay is Restreto Inn and Café. The small hotel is a few minutes away from the airport, and is located in the main highway at Minaog, DipologCity I know it’s a good choice for backpackers since it is affordable, clean and has a friendly staff.

You will also find it impressive to visit a beautiful place named GalasBeach, which is a 15-minute drive from the central part of the city. There’s a pavement for tourists to have a better view of fishermen working for a living. If you want to experience a peaceful and memorable morning in DipologCity, take time to stay at GalasBeach to greet the magnificent sunrise and enjoy sight-seeing.

I’ll definitely visit this place again. Tomorrow, I’ll leave this place with a promise that I’ll share this wonderful travel experience to inspire those who are travelling alone.
